About
The University of Manitoba My Climate Risk Regional Hub (U2MCR2H) is a local activity focused on connecting climate information with communities in Manitoba and Inuit Nunangat. A regional initiative of the World Climate Research Programme My Climate Risk Lighthouse Activity, U2MCR2H seeks to provide the climate information required to address community-defined questions and concerns at local scales. in a risk-related context. Through a non-hierarchical framework of knowledge exchange and shared values, we hope to focus on developing data and training initiatives to better equip communities for dealing with climate risks into the future.
Mission
The U2MCR2H mission is to connect climate information with northern Manitoba and Inuit Nunangat communities at local scales through a decision-based approach to climate science based on community-driven questions, needs, and solutions in a risk-related context.
Vision
In keeping with the WCRP My Climate Risk Lighthouse Activity vision of providing climate information to communities in order to improve societal well-being, U2MCR2H seeks to establish a permanent and continuing non-hierarchical framework of 'communities of practice' (hamlets, urban and rural communities, industry, non-profit organizations, government) to equip communities with the knowledge and infrastructure required to inform risk-related decisions at local scales.
